Traditional Weddings & Celebrations

The day two families become one. Whatever your culture, faith or style of celebration, we photograph the arrivals, the rituals, the families and the party, with the respect your day deserves.

How we work at weddings and celebrations

Your families lead. We follow.

Every family does this differently, and some moments are not for the camera. Before the day we speak to the person coordinating for your family and agree what we photograph, and what we don’t.

We photograph the moments families look back on: the arrivals, the attire and the details, grandparents and elders, the ceremony and its rituals, both families together, the dancing and the meal. Whether it is a lobola, a church wedding, a Hindu, Muslim or civil ceremony, or a family milestone, we plan the programme with you. Portraits of the couple and each family are built into the day, so nobody has to be chased down later.

Questions

Wedding and celebration questions

What kinds of weddings and celebrations do you photograph?

All of them: white and church weddings, civil ceremonies, lobola and other traditional ceremonies, Hindu, Tamil and Muslim weddings, engagements, anniversaries and family celebrations. Tell us about your day and we will plan the coverage around it.

Will you photograph private moments, like negotiations?

Only if your families want it. Some moments are kept private, such as lobola negotiations. We agree with your coordinator beforehand what we photograph and what we leave out.

Who should we put you in touch with?

Whoever is coordinating the day, often your wedding planner, an aunt or uncle, or the family’s negotiator. We plan the timings with them and keep the couple informed.

Do you cover celebrations over several days?

Yes. Many weddings run across a few days, such as a traditional ceremony and a white wedding, or the mehndi, sangeet and wedding day. We can cover one event or all of them, with the same team throughout.

Can you cover a wedding outside Johannesburg?

Yes. We travel for weddings and celebrations, whether at a venue or a family home, and we quote transport and any overnight stay before you book.
