Family Photoshoot: What to Wear & How to Prepare

A family photoshoot is a lovely way to capture everyone as they are right now. A little planning helps it run smoothly and look wonderful. Here is how to prepare for your family shoot at Studio24.7.

What to wear as a family

  • Coordinate, do not match. Pick two or three colours that work together and let everyone wear their own version. Matching outfits can look stiff.
  • Keep it simple. Solid colours and soft textures photograph better than busy prints and slogans.
  • Comfort matters — especially for little ones. If they are comfortable, they are happy, and it shows.

Planning around the children

Book a time when younger children are usually at their best — after a nap and a snack, not near bedtime. Bring a favourite toy or treat for a happy distraction, and do not stress about perfect behaviour. Some of the best family photos come from the giggles in between poses.

Make it an experience

Children often relax more in a fun setting. A themed set like the indoor beach turns the shoot into an outing rather than a chore — and gives you photos with real personality.

On the day

Arrive with a little time to spare so no one feels rushed. Trust your photographer to guide the posing, and let the natural moments happen. Group shots first, while everyone is fresh, then smaller combinations.
